CattleBoyz Review & Giveaway

3.04.2013

With all the snow that has been falling on us here in Ontario lately, we’ve really been looking for something to bring us back to those joyous days of summer.

The green grass and blue sky, the warm sunshine and the smell of BBQ filling the air. What could be better? So we were beyond excited when we were recently contacted by the Canadian company, CattleBoyz.

CattleBoyz is a company based out of Alberta that produces delicious sauces and seasonings. They sent us out a Starter Kit and a couple of bottles of Wing & Hot sauce to test out and review. But that’s not all folks! CattleBoyz has also offered up an AMAZING prize package for 2 lucky winners! Each winner will receive a CattleBoyz Starter Kit and a $100 Gift Certificate to shop at their online store! CattleBoyz is also offering an exclusive coupon code for all of our SaveaLoonians!

Learn more about the awesome-sauce that is CattleBoyz here in our review. Normally, we review products based on the 4 D’s – Design, Does It Work?, Durability and Dollar Value. Since it’s somewhat irrelevant to review the durability of sauces (could you even?), for the purposes of this review I will sub in Versatility. Enjoy!

Design

CattleBoyz offers a variety of sauces and seasonings to compliment any meal or any person’s taste preferences. All of their current sauces; Original BBQ, Sweet Chili and Wing & Hot Sauce, are all Gluten and Fat Free. The Wing & Hot Sauce is also free of MSG. It also appears that CattleBoyz has some new sauces coming soon. Here’s hoping that they are also Gluten & Fat Free. I love that this company strives to make their products healthier for everyone.

Another great feature about CattleBoyz products is, that each of their products that has a “spiciness” to it, is labeled with a Heat Meter. I’m not a big fan of spicy foods but Ryan goes nuts over it. While none of the products are uber-spicy the do have a nice kick. It’s just enough to give a little ZING when you take a mouthful.

The shakers that the seasonings come in are great. The cap is sealed in plastic and there is also a security seal under the cap. The plastic bottles are light and compact enough to store away easily. Ryan and I were both actually very impressed with the shakers. I know, it sounds weird but how many times have you been trying to season a piece of meat and the shaker cap gets clogged up and you have to knock it back down before you can start to season again. Or you tip the bottle ever so slightly and it all comes pouring out. Frustrating, I know. But there is none of that with these shakers. You get a nice even coat every time.

The latchtop bottles that house the Original BBQ Sauce and Sweet Chili Sauce are quite nice. They are very visually attractive and do work just fine but we have come across a couple of issues with them. The first time Ryan opened the BBQ Sauce, the pressure under the cap was so great, when he popped it open he got sauce splattered on him. It wasn’t a big mess or anything but definitely something to keep in mind. Also, after several uses, the cap can accumulate some gunky sauce under it. Again, not a huge issue just more of a nuisance. A quick rinse or wipe down will clean it right up!

One last point on design. I could not find anywhere on the bottles an expiry or best before date. Since most sauces are suitable to be stored for a year you should make note of when it was purchased. My guess is though, it won’t last any where near that long in your house.

Versatility

All it takes to implement CattleBoyz sauces & seasonings into any meal is a little imagination! There hasn’t been a meal I’ve cooked since receiving the Starter Kit that we haven’t used them in. With distinct flavours, pairing them with any meat gives it a refreshing flavour.

Each seasoning and sauce bottle offers you suggestions on what to pair it with (eg. Pork, Vegetables, Beef etc). But you can be original, mix and match to make the most out of your meal.

Here’s a brief run down of what we’ve done since receiving our Starter Kit:

  • Tacos
  • Southwest Pork Chops
  • Garlic Mashed Potatoes
  • Garlic Bread
  • Dipping sauce for pizza & chicken nuggets
  • Hamburgers
  • BBQ Steak

Does It Work?

Um, YES! How can it not work?!? So maybe a better question is, Is It Good? Again, um, YES! In case you didn’t gather as much yet, both Ryan and I both absolutely LOVE all of the products we received from CattleBoyz.

You can find recipes right on the CattleBoyz website but I think it’s just more fun to try to create your own masterpieces in the kitchen.

These sauces and seasonings aren’t just run of the mill. The depth of the flavours, especially in the Original BBQ Sauce, is amazing. A must have for any kitchen or BBQ.

Dollar Value

Now the real question. How much is it? In comparison to big name brand BBQ sauces & seasonings, CattleBoyz is pricey. Their sauces are $7.95 a bottle (500-715ml) and the seasonings are $6.59 each. So if you were to base your choice on cost alone, I already know what you are going to say. But wait, it does get better CattleBoyz is also available in stores at slightly lower prices. For instance, in Costco they sell 2 packs of the 750ml bottles for $8.49-ish. You can also find them in your local grocery stores such as Sobeys and Safeway for around $6.

Now let’s take a step back and ponder cost vs quality. Sure, you can grab a bottle of Kraft BBQ Sauce for a buck when it goes on sale but I can guarantee you that it won’t be any where near as good as CattleBoyz. And you can buy the store brand seasonings but will they have the same striking flavour as CattleBoyz, not likely.

We are all a part of this crazy coupon world to save money, but spending extra on a quality, Canadian-made, health conscious products is totally worth it, in my opinion. We love Canadian innovation and products and firmly believe that spending money to support these companies is worth every dime!

And well, wouldn’t you know it. CattleBoyz understands your desire to save, so they have offered SaveaLoonians an exclusive coupon code to save 65% off your purchase of Original BBQ or Sweet Chili Sauce 715ml bottles! Enter coupon code 10054011 at checkout to receive your discount, while supplies last. That makes each bottle only $2.79!

Cattleboyz BBQ Sauce (Review)

4.05.2012

This giveaway is not just for the man in your life, oh no. This giveaway is for you, too.

I know how women love BBQ just as much as any man and they can hold their own when it comes to seeing who can get the most sauce on their face..

Maybe that's just me? No? Okay, glad to know I'm not alone! Dainty napkins can kiss dirt!

Alright, enough with that talk.

I had the chance to review some of Cattleboyz BBQ Sauce and first off, I am a firm believer in that the only good BBQ sauce is Sweet Baby Rays. I'm here to tell you, that is not true. Cattleboyz brand can't even compare to that of Sweet Baby Rays.

We received the box and cracked them open and tasted them with our fingers. Bad idea. This BBQ sauce and fingers equals cannibalism folks. Don't go there.

The first thing my husband says before we even open the jars, "I'm keeping the jars!"

Seriously. What is it with men and wanting to keep cool looking jars? I'm not complaining, I love these jars myself, but really..

Anyway, we had decided to make these BBQ chicken taco wrap things that we made a while back which we used Sweet Baby Rays for. We made those for dinner but left the sauce off as I really wanted to try the Sweet Chili Sauce and Mr. Husband wanted original.

I literally almost licked the cup of sauce clean. I can't get enough of it.

Cattleboyz original BBQ sauce was developed by a cattle rancher in Alberta, Canada (I love you, Canada) who did not want to mask the taste of his beef with an overpowering sauce, but enhance it. You're damn (I mean, darn) right it enhances it. It enhances the heck out of it. Cattleboyz prides themselves on using all natural ingredients. Their sauces consist of molasses, soya, mustard, garlic and chili peppers.

We were even given a few spices to test and the spices do nothing more than to enhance the flavor as well. We used Weber brand seasoning for steaks before but now we are stuck on Cattleboyz. This is not a bad thing at all. This is an amazing blessing to have stumbled upon Cattleboyz.

I now officially use it on everything.

You can find Cattleboyz sold nationwide in many stores (full list on their website) and also while you're there, you can feel free to buy yourself your own sauces, spices, personalized steak knives (awesome) or cedar gift boxes.

You can also connect with Cattleboyz through Facebook and they list many recipes on their website so feel free to make the delicious ones you find fitting! Enjoy!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Cattle Boyz BBQ Sauces and Cattle Boyz Gourmet Seasonings Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Posted on December 12th, 2011 by roxxyroller in Giveaways Canada

I am a food addict, I admit it. I love all sorts of sauces, dips, seasonings, etc. Having my food taste great is my number 1 priority, and that is why I was ecstatic when Cattle Boyz agreed to a review and giveaway with us here at CoolCanucks!!

Cattle Boyz is a proud Canadian company straight out of the rustic country-side of Alberta. The Ternes family had raised prime Alberta beef for over 70 years and developed their family BBQ sauce into a gourmet quality product. It wasn’t until the early 90’s that the Ternes family offered the product to the general public from their butcher shop in Calgary’s downtown Eau Claire Market. At this point it was produced and bottled out of Joe Ternes’ own kitchen, and the Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauce was first introduced to the Canadian marketplace in 1998.

The Original flavoured BBQ Sauce comes in a great premium bottle with a swing sealing lid that you do not see very often anymore, once again a great label with all of the company information clearly printed on it. Just by the looks of the Cattle Boyz packaging, these sauces would make a great product for gift giving at Christmas, for birthdays, or even for those that are on your hard to buy for list!

I received 2 different varieties of their Gourmet BBQ Sauce, the Original and the Sweet Chili Sauce. The wonderful thing about these sauces is that they are gluten and fat free, and contain absolutely no additives or preservatives whatsoever! The original gourmet bbq sauce is what we tried first on our steak, and it is honestly so scrumptious and finger licking great! The sweet chili sauce is also delectable, and can best be described as a Hot and Sweet Sauce with a blend of spices that create a tangy sweet flavor with a spicy kick.

Along with these great sauces I also received 3 of Cattle Boyz awesome seasonings, their versatile Gourmet Seasoning, which is suitable for meats, veggies, and even seafood, their Smoky Southwest Seasoning and Rub which can liven up any protein and even be added to soups and stews, and their Big Country Garlic Seasoning which all taste phenomenal! Not once did I ever read a bad or negative review on Cattle Boyz BBQ Sauces or Cattle Boyz Gourmet seasonings, and they are an extremely reputable company well know all over the world. As far as myself and my family are concerned, Cattle Boyz sells the best BBQ Sauce out there!!

I am absolutely sold on all of the Cattle Boyz products that they were so kind and generous to send me to review! Their delivery time as well as customer service skills were also beyond outstanding!!

Thanks to the very kind and generous folks over at Cattle Boyz, they have graciously offered to give 2 very lucky CoolCanucks readers the chance to win the exact same starter kit that I was sent to review as well! SWEET!!!!! (There is going to be one starter kit for 1 Canadian Winner, and 1 starter kit for one US Winner!)

Chicken & Ribs Flavoured with Cattle Boyz Smokey Southwest Seasoning Rub and Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce

By Wilfred Reinke aka @OshawaOgre, on February 28th, 2011

Back in December I did a review for this blog Review of Cattle Boyz Gourmet Seasoning and Original BBQ Sauce on Chicken.

But that review only zeroed in on two of the products that Cattle Boyz out of Calgary, Alberta Canada had sent me in the box of samples that they were nice enough to send me to try out.

In this test I will be using the Smokey Southwest Seasoning & Rub along with the Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce.

I was very impressed by the Original BBQ sauce and the Gourmet Seasoning from my first review I found it had a great bold taste and it did not take long for our family to finish of that bottle of sauce. One thing I should mention is that the terrific swing top glass bottles are very cool and I have heard that people sell the empty bottles on eBay and they sometimes sell for more than the full bottles sell for retail, Collectors seem to love these bottles.

I poured a bit of the seasoning and the rub on to a plate to show you how great the texture of these products are.

The Smokey Southwest Seasoning & Rub is course and packs a punch while the Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce has body and chunks of it’s ingredients visible in the sauce which by the way is not ketchup or tomato based. This sauce instead uses honey as a sweetness base and adds the heat of the chili for its kick.

On to cooking some dinner with these products.

As I am always one that looks for value and saving a buck here and there I found some meat that was on clearance at my local grocer, finding some various chicken parts and also some Pork Back ribs that were 30% off since the best before date was fast approaching.

For the Chicken I used a Balsamic and Rosemary Presidents Choice marinade letting the chicken sit in that for a couple of hours in the fridge (thinking back I could of used the Sweet Chili sauce as a marinade as well but I was not that swift).

I then seasoned the Chicken with the Smokey Southwest Seasoning & Rub and then on to the grill for some indirect cooking on my gas BBQ for about 2 hours with sauce.

As for the Pork Back Rib offcuts I first spread on some mustard on to the ribs to give the seasoning something to stick too (the mustard does not add any flavour doing this) then some seasoning (with this seasoning keep in mind it has some kick so you do not need to over do it).

I first cooked the ribs indirect along with some chunks of cherry wood in a foil packet on my gas BBQ and after a couple of hours wrapped them in foil for an additional hour and then for the final hour sauced the ribs and kept them going with indirect heat.

As you can see for yourself the food all looked great but you have to taste it all to appreciate the melody of flavours that are produced using the combination of the Smokey Southwest Seasoning and the Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce. I really enjoyed the Sweetness from the Honey and the kick from the Chili. Really impressive!

A few days later I had some left over Pork and onion that was from a crock-pot dinner so I decided to heat some up in a cast iron pan on the stove. On a whim I heated it up along with some of the Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce just to see how that would taste and that was fantastic as well, this sauce is perfect for adding flavour and a sweet heat to even the blandest of meats.

I have been testing Sauces and rubs from all over Canada and the US and I love that you can get so many different textures and flavours and it can change the way that you enjoy your food.

Cattle Boyz to me ranks up there with the best of the best, they have been selling sauces for over 15 years and have hit a home run with this combination.

I used to be just a ketchup and mustard type of guy for most of my life but the last couple of years that I have been into BBQ and Low & Slow cooking has opened my eyes and tickled my taste buds like I never could of imagined.

I strongly suggest that you consider Cattle Boyz the next time you considering buying Seasoning and Sauces.

Review of Cattle Boyz Gourmet Seasoning and Original BBQ Sauce on Chicken

By Wilfred Reinke aka @OshawaOgre, on December 13th, 2010

I have been reviewing a number of sauces and rubs the past few months and most of them come up from below the border in the US, and there is nothing wrong with that as I have found that the products are diverse and wide ranging.

The latest batch of Sauces and Rubs I received was from a Canadian Company based out of Calgary, Alberta.

The morning that the mailman brought the package we just had a slight dusting of snow, but it was all melted within an hour, but it lasted long enough to get this one nice shot on my back porch.

For this particular review I am going to talk about two of their products.

My first impressions….

The Gourmet Seasoning comes in a container with a great design with an attractive label that even has the web address on it for their recipes page along with their toll free phone number 1-888-662-9366.

I like that the mix has a good size to the flakes, when I used it as a rub it was almost like breading the chicken.

The Original flavoured BBQ Sauce comes in a great premium bottle with a swing sealing lid that you do not see very often anymore, once again a great label with all of the company information clearly printed on it. Just on looks alone the Cattle Boyz packaging would make a great product for gift giving.

Though the dark brown glass of the bottle looks cool (kind of like a beer bottle but bigger.) I found that after opening it is hard to see how much you still have in the bottle. Which could be a problem if your getting low and you do not know til it is too late.

As I mentioned the flakes from the Gourmet Seasoning are huge and I did find that when you sprinkle from the container the wholes in the top are really too small so when I used it I pried off the plastic shaker lid in order to rub the meat a little quicker The seasoning does have a strong taste , though I wonder if it may be a little too salty, for some people it may be and I think you need to be careful which meat you add it too, if your using it on bacon for instance it may be a bit too much. I do think however that the ingredients for this seasoning are both bold and tasty.

The Original BBQ Sauce is most defiantly a Premium blend, it has a Dark Rich Colour and the Molasses is front and center. It is is thick and Bold that has a good kick to it that you can continue to taste on your tongue long after swallowing it down. all in a good way! And you know in the picture above where I poured some sauce on a plate, I ended up using my finger and sampling the sauce on it’s own while writing this review and it is fantastic even on its own, better than having candy, yummy!

Now for the meal I decided to try both of these products on 8 chicken breasts that I picked up on sale with bone and skin still attached. I had a look on the Cattle Boyz Recipe web page that has many simple but great recipe suggestions that take advantage of their products and I found a good recipe for World Championship BBQ Chicken that I would try.

I picked this recipe because I thought it would be the perfect way to test both the Gourmet Seasoning and the Original BBQ Sauce at the same time and not have too many outside tastes that would mask the Cattle Boyz Products.

Here is the story in pictures…

Marinate your chicken pieces in a ziplock bag with 1/2 a bottle of Italian Dressing for 3-4 hours.

I put a liberal amount of Gourmet Seasoning on both sides of the breasts.

Wrap with plastic wrap and throw back in the fridge for an hour.

Cooked on the BBQ in-direct heat around 250F for 3hours.

For the last 30 minutes I coated 4 of the breasts with Original BBQ Sauce.

These are the sauced breast, great colour and texture.

These 4 only had the Gourmet Seasoning.

Ready to serve come and get it!

Notice how tender and juicy the breast is, Great dinner!

Final Thoughts…

I was very impressed with the Cattle Boyz products, my family very much enjoyed the chicken and they commented to me how they really liked the sauce, some chose to dip into the sauce and another did not want to use BBQ sauce and just the seasoning alone was very tasty on the chicken.

My bottle of Original BBQ Sauce is almost empty now as I also used it on some Striploin Steaks and in some Stew that I made.

Steaks from the BBQ with some Cattle Boyz Original BBQ Sauce.

Used some of Cattle Boyz Garlic Seasoning and Gourmet Seasoning in a stew made in a crock pot.

And of course some Original BBQ Sauce in the stew as well... Yum.

As you can see in the first pic at the beginning of this review I still have more Cattle Boyz products to sample and I am looking forward to doing so but that will be another day.

I would most definitely recommend Cattle Boyz for their Gourmet Seasoning and their Original BBQ Sauce, both are premium products and welcome in my pantry.

Update December 14th 2010…

After my original review I had a chance to communicate with Cattle Boyz and they mentioned to me that the new batch of the Gourmet Seasoning and going forward will have less salt as an ingredient, so that answers the concern that I had mentioned above.

As someone mentioned in the comments below, the premium bottle may seem like it would unnecessarily drive up the cost of the product, my self personally I like that type of bottle and I think it makes a good gifting option. However I had a look on the site and you can order in standard, fancy and bulk containers. (at least for Canadian orders)

Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauce Review And #GIVEAWAY!

8/11/2011

I admit it: I am a total foodie. I love nothing more than creating new dishes for my family, and I often take existing recipes and totally change them around, adding my own personal twists. That's right. You will never see me poring over a cookbook and trying to get my measurements right. (Unless I am baking...Then it's a whole different story!) I usually consult recipe websites just to get an idea, and then I set the laptop down and just run with adding, adding or eliminating ingredients as I see fit. To me, cooking is an adventure. The sky is the limit when preparing food, and one way to ensure successful dishes is to always have high quality ingredients on hand. I am VERY picky about what I will use in my food. Ground beef? Never! Get me some Ground Chuck! Iceburg Lettuce? You can let that sink with the Titanic! Hand me some Romaine, Endive, or butter greens! American Cheese? Well, it does have its place, but I would MUCH prefer some smoked Provolone, some buttery Havarti, some nutty Meunster or some zippy Pepper-Jack! So as you can see, I am very conscious of what ingredients I use while cooking. I make almost everything from scratch, even my sauces. The exception to the rule is mashed potatoes. My family actually prefers instant potatoes, as odd as it sounds. But I even doctor those up and transform plain into fabulous!

Obviously, in my household quality matters. Does everything HAVE to be homemade? Not at all! I am just very selective about what prepacked, prepared foods and sauces I will incorporate into my cooking. That's why I was so eager to try Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauces and Seasonings. I have read rave reviews of their line of products, and knew I just had to try them for myself! I generally make my own BBQ sauce, but this can be a time consuming process, and I don't always have all the staple ingredients like molasses on hand. So finding a great, pre-made BBQ sauce sounded like a lifesaver to me for those busy weeknights where I don't necessarily have hours to spend slaving away in the kitchen.

The nice folks at Cattle Boyz, a Canadian company straight out of the rustic country-side of Alberta, were nice enough to send me an assortment of their products to try in my kitchen. I received 2 varieties of their Gourmet BBQ Sauce, the Original and the Sweet Chili Sauce. The GREAT thing about these products is that they are gluten and fat free, and contain absolutely no additives or preservatives whatsoever. What does that mean? It means that there is no concern about what you're feeding your family. All of the ingredients are right there, and you can actually pronounce them all! This also means that you'll be experiencing flavor at its finest. The fact that the ingredients are from natural sources and are not artificial in nature allows all of the wonderful flavors to play off of each other and blend together perfectly, with no "fake" or over-processed flavor.

I tried the Original BBQ Sauce First, paired with the Smoky Southwest Seasoning and Rub. I decided to keep things very simple so I could showcase the flavors of these products. I even completely resisted the urge to "doctor" the dish, as hard as it was for me. I decided to make a simple, BBQ Chicken and Roasted Potato dish. (Photos and recipe to follow.) I almost felt wrong making something that required so little effort, but the results were fabulous. The Original BBQ Sauce had a pefect balance of sweetness and smokiness, and even had a hint of heat to it. For this recipe, I also used the Southwest Rub, which has a wonderful smoky, spicy flavor to it. Who knew that only 4 ingredients could make such a delicious, flavorful dish?!

In addition to these awesome sauces, I also received 3 of Cattle Boyz awesome seasonings, their versatile Gourmet Seasoning, which is suitable for meats, veggies, and even seafood, their Smoky Southwest Seasoning and Rub (mentioned above) which can liven up any protein and even be added to soups and stews, and their Big Country Garlic Seasoning which I literally use on EVERYTHING. These seasoning blends are nothing short of phenomenal! I routinely use the Gourmet Seasoning on veggies and baked potatoes, as it lends a perfectly balanced savory sensation that brings out the natural flavors of the foods beautifully. I also love the Smoky Southwest Seasoning, and use that on meats, chicken, and in stews. As the name indicates, this is a spicier seasoning blend, but it's not too spicy for kids. It's just right! Now my favorite of the three would have to be the Big Country Garlic Seasoning. Oh. My. Goodness. This is probably THE single best garlic seasoning I have ever had the pleasure of trying. It showcases the expected pungent flavor of the garlic, but then comes an unexpected sweetness that complements the garlicky goodness perfectly. Add a slight bit of heat (and I do mean slight) and you have a complex yet simple seasoning that is perfect on literally everything. I use it on toast, in pretty much every dish I make, and it's even good in grilled cheese sandwiches! It is absolutely delicious!

Overall, I would definitely recommend Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauces and Seasonings to anyone who wants to add something extra special to their meals. You can save SO much time in the kitchen when using these products, and your family will think you've slaved away all day. The flavors are big, bold, and unlike any other commercially prepared sauces and rubs I've ever tried. And the fact that they are gluten and fat free, and don't contain any preservatives makes these the natural choice for families!

Cattle Boyz satisfied customers say it best: the magical mix of flavor, texture, heat, and versatility will keep you coming back for more of the Best BBQ sauce in the World. – Cattle Boyz.

I was thrilled to find out Cattle Boyz was going to be sending me out their HUGE Starter BBQ Kit to sample, review and giveaway one to a lucky Bloggy Follower!

First of all I was amazed at the size of the 3 seasonings...12 Flavorful ounces. Gourmet, Smokey Southwest and Big Country Garlic.

We used the Big Country Garlic to help create a wonderful easy grilled supper. Garlic Beer Chicken.

The Cattle Boyz Big County Garlic added the perfect amount of flavor to our bird. It was not over powering, but you could taste the garlic notes. I can't wait to try it on homemade garlic bread and popcorn.

The Smokey Southwest Seasoning is "a smokey blend of chipotle, chili peppers and special blend of other spices, has a bit of heat. Really is an all purpose rub or seasoning."

Check out the magic Cattle Boyz Smokey Southwest Seasoning did on a brisket we BBQ on our grill...Our brisket was seasoned/rubbed perfectly and went well with the Mesquite wood we used to smoke it. I LOVED the slight heat at the seasoning added which was only made every better when we served it with...

Cattle Boyz amazingly Original BBQ Sauce. I really enjoyed the molasses that is included to make up this unique and leave you wanting more sauce. The sauce was slightly spicy. It really perked up our brisket and brought it to another level. I am just said we didn't have any left overs from this meal.

The Cattle Boyz Sweet Chili Sauce is beautiful! "Hot and Sweet Sauce with a blend of spices that create a tangy sweet flavor with a spicy kick. Like our Original BBQ sauce, the Sweet Chili Sauce recipe is versatile and can be used for a variety of different reasons. Use it as a BBQ sauce on Chicken, pork, vegetables and seafood, especially well on cedar planked salmon. It’s the perfect compliment for chicken fingers, seafood sticks, french fries etc. Also works well as a condiment, fondue dip, stir fry sauce or glaze. It's also a great alternative to ketchup!" This was too spicy for me, but my husband has a new love.

The Review Connection

Cattle Boyz Original BBQ Sauce

Just because summer is about to wrap up, doesn’t mean you can’t heat up the grill for some good old-fashioned barbeque. How about healthy barbeque for a change? No, it’s not as oxymoronic as you may think. Among all the barbeque sauces and marinades on the market, most of them are full of preservatives, additives, and MSG. Its one thing to savor a tasty barbeque sauce, but its simply another thing to spoil your body with unnatural ingredients. The first step to healthy barbequing is what you use to marinade and grill with. Introducing Cattle Boyz BBQ Sauce, an all natural and gourmet barbeque sauce that will guarantee to lasso you in.

Unlike other sauces that use artificial flavorings to capture that commonly popular smoked, hickory flavor, Cattle Boyz prides themselves on using all natural ingredients. Their special recipe consists of molasses, soya, mustard, garlic, and chili peppers. The molasses and soya gives Cattle Boyz sauces a rich, pure, brown color instead of the bright red you may be use to seeing in other sauces.

The great thing about Cattle Boyz sauce is that its consistency is not thick and chunky like other sauces that result in sticky fingers. Cattle Boyz specially formulates their sauces for a thinner and more versatile consistency. As a result of making a lighter sauce, it alternatively becomes multi-purpose for various other uses such as marinades (which absorbs better than thicker sauces), glazes, dipping sauces, and stir-fry for beef, pork, poultry, seafood and vegetables.

The Cattle Boyz Original BBQ Sauce has won numerous awards for its taste and versatility since its introduction in 1998. The molasses presents a sweet undertone that is tangy, while the chili kicks in spiciness. Great for marinades on steaks and ribs! This also works wonders for stir-fry and dipping sauces. You can even take it to the next level by using the sauce as an additive to beans, pasta and pizza sauces and chili to create a unique flavor.

If you want something a little more creative, try the Cattle Boyz Honey Hot BBQ Sauce, which tastes much sweeter and hotter than the Original since it is made with real honey and an extra blend of chili peppers. MSG and Gluten free, it works great for dipping in place of ketchup as well as a glaze for meats or for stir-fry.

Cattle Boyz knows what people want and doesn’t compromise taste in the least! Unique, spicy, but not overpowering, it stands apart from the generic tastes other brands have to offer.

You can find Cattle Boyz Sauces distributed nationwide in retail stores (for a full list go to their website). You can also order sauces, spices, and specialty gifts such as personalized steak knives or cedar gift boxes from www.cattleboyzsauce.com. CattleBoyz: Review and Awesome Giveaway CAN/US Go BBQ!!

Posted on September 8, 2011 by sweetmamabrady

Just in time for the long weekend, I received a fabulous package from Cattleboyz. It had two sauces, 4 spices and an assortment of swag! Take a look.

Perfect timing! The last long weekend of the summer calls for all out BBQ! I couldn’t wait to start trying them out. I admit to having used their original bbq sauce before and we love it! This is gluten free and has massive flavour. It’s our main sauce. Sauce number two was their Sweet Chili Sauce. It’s also gluten free. The spice mixes were interesting. They have a great smell to them and you can see the mixture of spice in each. I think it’s going to be a good weekend.

So, first up, pork tenderloin. You have to be careful while cooking this specific cut of meat or you’ll end up with a dry and sawdusty meal. To begin, I mixed two of the seasoning rubs that I had been given which amounted to about a tablespoons of each. Rub number one was the Garlic seasoning and rub and the 2nd was the Smokey Southwest seasoning and rub.

These tenderloins were some of the best I have ever had. Certainly the best ones I’ve ever bbq’d! If you could of smelled them, it was mouth-watering. I just finished them off with a little of the Original BBQ Sauce.

The drink cozies worked out great too! After all, it was a warm weekend.

The next day, I decided to fry up a little shrimp and mushrooms. Marinate them with the Sweet Chili Sauce for a couple of hours. Toss marinated shrimp in panko bread crumbs and fry them up. Serve with veggies (in my case marinated mushrooms) and some awesome garlic bread made with Cattleboyz Garlic Seasoning and rub.

So many ways to use these sauces and seasonings. They are great on pork, beef, seafood or vegetables. Add a little flavour or a lot of zing. You will be pleased to add them to any dish you are creating.

The best part about Cattleboyz sauce and seasonings is taste. The flavour is there whether you add a little or a lot. I find with other seasonings that I have to add so much just to get a hint of the flavour. Cooking is made easier and you can be more creative with these sauces and rubs. Give your family a treat. Home cooking just got better!

Cattleboyz even has customized gift boxes on their website. You choose what you’d like to have in the gift package including bbq tools. If you’re looking for promotional product, they will even put your label on some of their sauces.

Great Canadian Company. Great Canadian Products. Available in the US too.

Cattle Boyz BBQ Sauce

For this very special Thursday Barbecue Sauce Review, we are going to be reviewing Cattle Boyz Barbecue Sauce. Before we start our review lets get some background of Cattle Boyz Barbecue Sauce:

In the beginning, Cattle Boyz Original BBQ Sauce was developed by a cattle rancher in Alberta, Canada who did not want to mask the taste of his beef with an overpowering sauce, but enhance it. Cattle Boyz Original started out on the ranch, but today it’s sold throughout North America. Cattle Boyz Foods has brought this Albertan’s savory sauce to the marketplace along with a second flavour – Cattle Boyz Honey Hot BBQ Sauce. Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauce was introduced to the Canadian marketplace in 1998. The Ternes Family had raised prime Alberta beef for over 70 years and developed their family BBQ sauce into a gourmet quality product. It wasn’t until the early 90′s that the Ternes family offered the product to the general public from their butcher shop in Calgary’s downtown Eau Claire Market. At this point it was produced and bottled out of Joe Ternes’ own kitchen.

Okay, now that we have background of the sauce it is time for the review. For the review we tried two of thier sauces: Original Barbecue and also Honey Hot BBQ:

Original Barbecue: We liked the sauce very much. The one interesting flavor that we found in it was the ingredient of Soy! The reason why this was interesting was because we think that there aren’t a lot of sauces that have soy as an ingredient. The sauce also had a great constancy and came out of the bottle thick, which in our opinion is always great, and that in our mind makes a great barbecue sauce!

Honey Hot Barbecue: The next barbecue sauce that we tried was the Honey Hot Barbecue. Like any sauce that has the word: “HOT,” we are kind of nervous to try. Boy, were we right, it was HOT and it definitely brought the Heat!! Even though the sauce was hot, it definitely had a very interesting constancy, which enabled you to see the ingredients which was a great addition.

Cattle Boyz Barbecue Sauce Bottle Bottle: We think that the bottle was very unique and we actually liked it a lot! It reminded us of some good old fashion beer, which was a really good touch to the barbecue sauce.

Overall Impressions: Overall, we liked the sauce. It was a very interesting take on Barbecue Sauce but still having some traditional qualities to the sauce. We enjoyed the sauce very much an think that you should get your own sauce to try for your next outdoor barbecue or grilling adventure!

Don’t forget to check them out on Facebook; Twitter and also on the web!

Cattle Boyz Gourmet BBQ Sauces and Seasonings-Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

The first day of summer is only three weeks away and for my family the warmer weather always brings the same three letters to all our minds…BBQ! There is nothing I love more than a delicious meal served hot off the grill and eaten outside in our big backyard and my husband and kids feel exactly the same way. Nobody complains when we cook something on the barbeque and even Zackary, who is a frustratingly picky eater, will devour everything on his plate.

Since we all love barbequing so much, I didn’t really think there was anything out there that could make us love it even more. But I learned how wrong I was when I got to review the sensational Starter Kit of delicious gourmet BBQ sauce and spices from Cattle Boyz.

Cattle Boyz is an award-winning company that was founded in the Alberta, a province known for its mouth-watering beef and its love of the outdoors. The company’s first product, Cattle Boyz Original Sauce, was created by a rancher that understood a truly great BBQ sauce enhances the taste of meat rather than covering it up. Since Cattle Boyz products first hit the market in 1998, they have won dozens of coveted awards and gained fans across North America in the process. Today, Cattle Boyz is instantly recognized as a household name in thousands of barbeque-loving households.

I received the Cattle Boyz Original Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce, Big Country Garlic Seasoning, Smokey Southwest Spice and Rub and Gourmet Seasoning to review. This collection is a barbeque fan’s dream come true and has flavours that are sure to please any palate. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to start cooking!

Though I was eager to get reviewing, my husband was actually the first one to try out one of the Cattle Boyz products. On Mother’s Day, he cooked me a huge breakfast including his special homemade hash browns. This year, he seasoned them with the delectable Big Country Garlic Seasoning and I couldn’t believe how addictively delicious they were. The garlic flavour was nice and distinctive without being overpowering and I couldn’t wait to try it out on something else. Since that first taste, I’ve used the seasoning in dips, on meat and in casseroles and I have been blown away every time.

The next product I used was the Cattle Boyz Original Sauce and I knew from my first bite why it was so popular. I made barbequed chicken and glazed it with the sauce for one of our weekend suppers. This sauce has a flavour that is unlike any other barbeque sauce and its unique taste is a huge part of its appeal. Unlike many commercial sauces, it isn’t too sugary and the flavour of molasses comes through nicely in the sauce to give it just a hint of sweetness. Diced garlic adds the perfect bit of zing and the overall flavour is complex and delectable. The whole family loved the sauce and since our first experience we have used Cattle Boys Original Sauce on everything from burgers to beans. We even used it as a dip for nuggets!

Chicken is probably our favourite barbequed food, so a few weeks later I cut up two whole chickens and used two more Cattle Boyz products to season them for supper. I rubbed the Smokey Southwest Seasoning and Rub on one of the chickens before I barbequed it and glazed the other chicken with the Sweet Chili Barbeque Sauce in the last ten minutes of cooking. Both of the chickens were absolutely delicious, though the chicken seasoned with the Smokey Southwest Seasoning and Rub was a bigger hit in the household. The smokey flavour was a hit with everyone and the milder taste was definitely appreciated by the kids. The Sweet Chili Sauce was delicious as well, but it had much more of a spicy kick to it. For those that like a little fire in their cooking, the Sweet Chili Sauce would be the perfect choice!

The final product I received was the scrumptious Cattle Boyz Gourmet Seasoning. I used this delicious spice blend on absolutely everything. It added zip to baked potatoes and livened up stir-frys. I especially liked using it to season a juicy steak and the blend of onions, garlic and red peppers was the perfect accompaniment to so many dishes and contained less than half the salt of similar products on the market.

Cattle Boyz products really are a barbeque-lover’s dream come true and my entire family has fallen in love with the delicious sauces and spices from this phenomenal company. If you love barbequing, you need to give Cattle Boyz products a try. Your first bite will have you convinced that you’ve found the World’s Best BBQ Sauce!
